Menopause and Me is back — our friendly, no-pressure menopause support meet-up run by me, Sammy from That’ll Be Menopause, and hosted after hours by the gorgeous local family-run café & Deli, The Helm in Amble.

Which means we get the place to ourselves again. No awkward whispering about anxiety over someone’s cappuccino. No pretending you’re “fine” while your nervous system is doing cartwheels in a bin fire. Just us, the kettle, the cake, and a room full of people who get it.

This session is all about being heard, feeling supported, and remembering that you don’t have to shrink yourself just because life, hormones, grief, anxiety, or other people’s nonsense have left you feeling wobbly.

We’re really pleased to welcome Mika, a pluralistic counsellor, to our in-person support group.

In plain English, that means Mika’s approach is centred around you — what you want to bring, what you need support with, and what feels right for you. No one-size-fits-all therapy waffle. No “here’s a worksheet, off you pop.” Just thoughtful, respectful support that meets people where they actually are.

Mika draws from different counselling theories and processes to support each person in a way that feels useful, safe, and compassionate. She is an accredited registered member of the NCPS, works within their ethical framework, is fully insured, and brings experience from working with charities including the Women’s Centre and other local organisations.

With qualifications covering therapeutic counselling, grief and bereavement, anxiety management, mindfulness, domestic abuse awareness, working with survivors of domestic abuse and violence, and cyber therapy, Mika offers a calm, compassionate space to be heard — no judgement, no pressure, just support that meets you where you are.

We’ll also be joined by Sarah Seed, who supports sensitive, empathic women to uncover their worth and turn their sensitivity into their greatest strength.

Because let’s be honest — a lot of us have spent years being told we’re “too sensitive”, “too much”, “too emotional”, or “taking things personally”, when actually we’ve been carrying a full emotional filing cabinet while everyone else swans about with a Post-it note.

Sarah helps women stop playing small, break free from the dream stealers, and rise into unapologetic purpose — whether that’s in life, business, visibility, identity, or simply remembering who the hell they were before everyone else’s needs took up the whole room.

She’ll be bringing insight around sensitivity, self-worth, purpose, visibility, and stepping into your power as the woman you are now — not the watered-down version the world finds more convenient.

What to expect:

  • A warm welcome — no need to perform, come as you are
  • Gentle, judgement-free conversation
  • Space to share, or space to simply sit and breathe
  • Practical support and community connection
  • Guest speaker insight without the jargon
  • Real talk, real support, and absolutely no patronising waffle

This isn’t medical advice or therapy, and we’ll always encourage you to speak to a qualified professional for anything clinical or urgent. But it is a safe, supportive space to feel heard, understood, and a little less like you’re trying to hold your entire life together with lip balm and sarcasm.

Bring yourself. Bring a mate if you need backup. Bring your questions, your sensitivity, your overwhelm, your brain fog, your big feelings, your tiny patience, and whatever version of you turns up on the day.

The café will have teas, coffees and cake available to buy on the night. No pressure, but it’s a lovely way to support them for opening up just for us.

Come as you are — we’ve got you.
