Menopause & Me: From Overwhelmed to On Your Feet
Menopause and Me is back — our friendly, no-pressure menopause support meet-up run by me, Sammy from That’ll Be Menopause, and hosted after hours by the gorgeous local family-run café & Deli, The Helm in Amble.
Which means we get the place to ourselves again. No awkward whispering about night sweats over someone’s flat white. No pretending you’re “fine” while your nervous system is doing jazz hands in a burning building. Just us, the kettle, the cake, and a room full of people who get it.
This event is all about support, strength, coping, and finding steadier ground when life — and hormones — have decided to throw the furniture around.
We’re delighted to welcome Alex, who specialises in supporting people through significant life changes. You know the kind — the ones that knock you sideways and leave you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted, low, wired, sleepless, or wondering who the hell swapped your coping skills for a damp paper bag.
Alex holds an ICF and Association for Coaches accredited Diploma in Positive Psychology Coaching, alongside training in sober coaching. She offers practical support and coping strategies for people navigating emotional strain, sleep difficulties, anxiety, low mood, or changes in their relationship with alcohol.
She’ll be joining us to share gentle encouragement, useful tools, and real talk — no judgement, no pressure, no “have you tried thinking positive?” nonsense.
We’ll also be joined by Natalie Bell, a fitness instructor and personal trainer with a special interest in menopause.
Natalie will be bringing her knowledge around movement, strength, fitness, and supporting your body through midlife — without the punishment mindset, shrinking nonsense, or “bounce back” rubbish. Because frankly, we are not rubber balls and we are not here to bounce anywhere unless there’s music and snacks.
This is about understanding your body now, working with it, and finding ways to feel stronger, steadier, and more at home in yourself.
What to expect:
- A warm welcome — no need to perform, come as you are
- Gentle, judgement-free conversation
- Space to share, or space to simply sit and breathe
- Practical support and community connection
- Guest speaker insight without the jargon
- Real talk, real support, and absolutely no patronising waffle
This isn’t medical advice, and we’ll always encourage you to speak to a qualified healthcare professional for anything clinical. But it is a safe, supportive space to feel heard, understood, and a bit less like you’re trying to operate your own body using instructions written in another language.
Bring yourself. Bring a mate if you need backup. Bring your questions, your overwhelm, your brain fog, your comfy shoes, your curiosity, your sense of humour — whatever turns up on the day.
The café will have teas, coffees and cake available to buy on the night. No pressure, but it’s a lovely way to support them for opening up just for us.
Come as you are — we’ve got you.
